* Effective Responses that Empower Displaced People
Summary: As displaced people come to our communities, they face a long adjustment process and many challenges. It takes great wisdom to walk alongside them in this journey, but we know all are created to contribute and thrive. Come hear principles and stories from Pastor Jean Pierre Gatera, who was himself displaced and who continues to mentor and walk alongside displaced people making their home in Minnesota.
About the Speaker:
Pastor Jean Pierre Gatera serves with the International Association for Refugees (IAFR) and on the board of Arrive Ministries. He has been in Minnesota since September 2016. Before that he lived in Kakuma Refugee Camp, where he pastored his own church and also directed the United Refugee and Host Churches (URHC). Although those living in a refugee camp are among the poorest in the world, Pastor Gatera is a firm believer that refugees should not be seen as helpless, but are valuable people, with God-given assets, gifts, and skills.
