The immigration issue is complicated. Christians find themselves torn between the desire to uphold laws and the call to minister to the vulnerable. Join us for a free and informative conference with World Relief’s Matthew Soerens and Willmar author Amran Abukar (locally known as Amina Hussein).
Session #1: Keynote Address with Matthew Soerens (Q & A will be available with Matthew Soerens)
Session #2: Q & A with Amran Abukar (locally known as Amina Hussein)
Speakers:
Matthew Soerens is the U.S. Director for World Relief and the National Coordinator of the Evangelical Immigration Table. Soeren’s presentation will encourage us to think Biblically about immigration while sharing personal stories and experiences, along with thoughtful policy analysis and facts. Soerens will point toward immigration reform that is compassionate, sensible, and just, all while encouraging the church to offer welcome and friendship to our new neighbors.
Amran Abukar (locally known as Amina Hussein) is the author of Burns from Blackhawk, a historical fiction novel that helps tell the collective story of what the Somali people have endured. Amina will articulate the story of the Somali Diaspora in a compelling and informative way.
More than 400 people attended this event in the Twin Cities and Rochester this spring. Don't miss this informative and helpful conference and learn how you can get involved locally!
“Our mission isn’t just to resettle refugees well or help
immigrants integrate into communities, it’s to empower the local church to
serve the vulnerable.”
