The Prep Program at the APAA is designed to prepare for beginning and intermediate artists in 1st through 8th grade for the Company Program. Students will be broken up into smaller groups based on both past experience as well as age. Once in 6th grade or based on teacher’s recommendations, students are eligible for the Company program.
Classes will be offered in-person with social distance guidelines in our brand new 4,200 square foot space to ensure the safety of all students. Prep classes will continue to meet Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 3:30 - 5:30 pm. Students will be broken up into smaller groups based on age and experience for socially distanced acting and dance rehearsals. Music rehearsals will take place outside on the loading dock while weather permits wearing masks and face shields to keep the students safe.
Our performance-based curriculum has rotating performances for each small group with safety at its roots. This will include producing a straight play, dance performances, and small group music theatre cabarets designed to build repertoire and give students more opportunity to do what they love, PERFORM! At the start of the fall each student will be assigned a group. Within this group they will read and select a play, direct and design all elements and then perform it. Simultaneously they will be working on their small group cabaret. Students will create the themes, the song lists, and write the scripts. Once they have approval, they will start rehearsing.
In addition, Prep will be producing Moana Jr (which has been designed to be able to be performed physically distanced) which will go up this spring in a physically distanced way.
The Prep program fee structure is as follows: Tuition: $2,000.00 per year Registration fee: $150.00 Non-Refundable Deposit: $200.00
This down payment is used to help secure the rights for your children’s performances for the upcoming season. $150 will be credited towards the first invoice of the semester.
