fires. The Choose Joy Foundation was established in 2015 by Theresa Morris in memory of her daughter,
Joyce Anne Morris, who was tragically lost to a house fire. By combining some of Joyce's passions,
such as helping others, promoting unsigned musicians and artists, collaborating with nonprofits, and
working within the community, Choose Joy aims to turn grief into something positive.
We have assembled a dedicated team of volunteers, including past clients, to assist families during the first
year following a fire by providing basic needs while maximizing community support. Our approach involves
working closely with other nonprofits, small businesses and local talent, fostering unity and uplifting each
other. With the assistance of community members like you, we create a robust network that enables us to advocate for fire survivors and provide help where it's needed most.
Choose Joy offers support by hosting and co-hosting local events such as June Jam, Firefly, Chillin in the
Sticks, interactive murder mysteries and more. Our volunteers participate in these events to foster a sense
of community and self-confidence. We also provide fire safety information at local festivals and offer training
for Scouts, civic groups and daycares. Recognized by FEMA, we are committed to promoting fire safety
at all our events because fire prevention is everyone's responsibility.
In 2022, we made a huge impact in our community. We assisted 163 people who were affected by fires with food, motel rooms, clothing, and furnishings. We also sent over a thousand dollars in gift cards for gas and food to the Crozer Burn Unit. When Kent County Delaware didn't have a Toys for Tots program, we stepped up and made sure that 413 children received gifts for the Holidays. Our team did so much more to uplift our community, but there's too much to list here.
Now, we need as much help as we can get to be prepared for our busiest weeks of the year in 2023. We need volunteers, donations, and support to make sure that we can continue to make a difference in our community. We are committed to helping those in need and we need your help to make sure that we can continue to do so.
We invite our sponsors to join our functions as an opportunity to connect with those they support. Together,
We can bring happiness to those in need and be a shining beacon of hope during their darkest times.

Goals as a Charity:
Our short-term goal is to establish an official Choose Joy office in Kent County, which will enable us to
better
assist families and the community. We envision this office as a free shop location for families in need.
Additionally, we aim to acquire a temperature-controlled storage unit for our donations, including furniture,
clothes, food, and Christmas gifts.
Within the next two years, we hope to have a house in each county of Delaware to temporarily
accommodate families who become homeless due to lack of insurance or support from family members.
This temporary housing solution will not only improve their well-being but also facilitate their transition to permanent housing.
Our charity, Choose Joy, stands out in its unique approach to assisting families affected by fires. We
commit to supporting them for an entire year, ensuring they receive the necessary resources and
emotional
care. Fires do not discriminate, making our focused and driven fire charity essential in every state.
Expanding Choose Joy's efforts would not only benefit struggling families but also strengthen
communities everywhere.
