JUST TRANSITION SUMMIT

The climate crisis is not a future threat. It is threatening the livelihoods of so many people right now, especially in the Global South. Africa as a continent is responsible for less than 4% of global emissions, and yet many Africans are suffering from the most brutal impacts of climate change. This is why we need to mitigate the impacts of this crisis as we address the need for climate adaptation and loss and damage. Tard Foundation is organizing a Just Transition summit to address these issues. The concept of a just transition has gained momentum in recent years as a framework for addressing the social and economic impacts of transitioning to a low-carbon economy. A just transition ensures that the benefits and costs of transitioning to a sustainable economy are fairly distributed across society, including workers, communities, and vulnerable populations.
