Chainsaws are one of the most useful, as well as, dangerous tools a worker can use. This seminar is designed to educate personnel who use a chainsaw. Topics of discussion will include safety, maintenance, use, and handling. Participants will gain an understanding of what contributes to accidents and how to avoid them. Demonstrations, including bucking and limbing, understanding compression and tension and dealing with spring poles will be a part of the day. As well as a defined 6 step plan to safely fell a tree. Developing skills and knowledge that reduce variables and mitigate risks associated with chainsaws and cutting techniques is the general theme of this course, and will be beneficial knowledge for any level of tree worker.
Arborist Demonstrations Will Include:
• Job Safety Analysis, Emergency Planning, and PPE
• Chainsaw Safety, Starting, and Operations
• Technical Cutting & Tree Felling: 6 Step Felling Plan
• Limbing and Bucking
• Chainsaw Maintenance
• Aerial Chainsaw Use
6.5 Certified Arborist CEUs and 6.5 CTSP CEUs will be earned for the seminar.
