God is writing a story in human history--a story of grace, redemption, and glory. It is a story that began with bright promise and possibility in Creation, endured the devastation brought about by sin at the Fall, has dared to hope over the centuries as God has been working out his plans for redemption, and anticipates the absolute healing and wholeness in the New Creation. This is the story the Bible tells from Genesis to Revelation.
But this is not just the story of the Bible, outside of you. If you are joined to Christ, this story has shaped the world you live in and who you are. It explains the realities of life in this world and holds out the promise of forever life in a new creation. That’s why you and I need to know this story. It is where we find the answers to our questions about what really matters, now and into eternity. This story has the power to change everything about our stories.
At the workshop “When God’s Story Becomes Your Story,” Bible teacher Nancy Guthrie will trace the story of the Bible through the lens of three of its important themes—emptiness/fullness, sacrifice, and feasting. She has invited one of her favorite biblical theologians, Ben Gladd, to join her to present the story of the nations. And she has invited one of her favorite worship leaders, Stephanie Seefeldt, to lead us in singing for joy about the good news in these stories.
Sessions will include:
· God Does His Best Work with Empty: The Story of Fullness
· When He Sees the Blood: The Story of the Lamb
· You Will Be My People: The Story of the Nations (presented by Ben Gladd)
· We Will Feast in the House of Zion: The Story of Feasting
Those who have attended Nancy’s Biblical Theology Workshop will recognize that she is doing what she taught participants to do at that workshop—trace important biblical themes from Genesis to Revelation. But don’t worry if you haven’t attended one of her workshops. It is by no means required for fully enjoying When God’s Story Becomes Your Story.
