The Summer Youth Employment Training Program is a joint effort between Suffolk County Department of Labor and Project Excel of the Huntington Youth Bureau to provide youth ages 14-20 from the Town of Huntington with meaningful employment opportunities for the Summer.
Project Excel will be responsible for placing youth in jobs throughout the Town Offices/Departments in Huntington, and professional development trainings that are mandatory for each youth employee to attend. Space is limited for this program, we will do our best to complete and submit applications for the program, but we cannot guarantee a job for the youth applying for this program, but we have other opportunities to help refer youth to summer jobs. We are seeking youth who can commit 25 hours a week (Monday - Friday) for seven weeks of paid work.
The program starts on Monday, July 6th through Friday, August 21st. The program includes Employment training on Mondays provided by Project Excel and work experiences at the assigned worksites Tuesday through Friday. Work hours will tend to be from the morning to afternoon. *Please note, if your child has completed a Summer Youth Employment Training Program before, they will have to automatically be added to the waitlist, so newer youth can have an opportunity to work. *
For family units with more than six members, add $947 monthly or $11,360 annually for each additional family member.
Do you (the youth applicant/parents/guardians) currently receive benefits under one or more of these programs?
